ARC Raiders Refunds Due to Cheaters and Future Skins
Building A Fair and Fun Experience

ARC Raiders restores items players lost due to cheaters as part of its commitment to build a fair and fun experience for all. According to a post by user Jfourmes on r/ArcRaiders on November 1, they received their items after playing a game that included cheaters.
They were surprised after the match when a prompt popped up on their game, stating that their items had been returned as they were lost due to "unfair play." The message reads, "Your items were lost due to unfair play, but we managed to get them back for you! They’re now available for you to claim and take with you on your next journey Topside."

This initiative is part of Embark Studios’ goal of ensuring that players are treated fairly and accordingly. The message continues, "We’re committed to building an environment where gameplay is about skill, teamwork, and fun, not unfair advantages. Thank you for being part of this mission! Together, we’re building ARC Raiders into a fair and fun experience for everyone."
Comments under the Reddit thread praised the developer for going the extra mile of returning the items to combat cheating. Unfortunately, widespread cheating has been observed in the game since launch, severely detracting from the player experience.
While many advocate for a strong anti-cheat, such as Riot Vanguard's kernel-level system, others resist the idea, citing concerns over the intrusive access the programs require to a user's computer.

Regardless, the community rejoiced over Embark Studios’ "class act" and continues to support the game, which has received "Very Positive" reviews on Steam. It even experienced online connection errors during launch as over 100k players tried to get in at the same time.
Here at Game8, we gave ARC Raiders an 82 out of 100 for blending cinematic flair with extraction-shooter grit while delivering stylish action with fresh new ideas. To know more about our thoughts on the game, check out our review below.
No T-Rex Costumes or Santa Claus Outfits

Aside from refunding items due to cheaters, the community has praised Embark Studios’ decision not to include "goofy" skins such as "T-Rex costumes" or "Santa Claus outfits". In an interview with PCGamesN on October 31, ARC Raiders Design Director Virgil Watkins promised fans that such cosmetics will not be featured in the game.
Recently, a major complaint among the online shooter community has centered on games that introduce skins and outfits that clash with the title's original aesthetic. This concern is primarily driven by games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which introduced controversial, out-of-place collaborations such as the American Dad! CODtoon event, and Fortnite, known for incorporating a wide range of external media characters.

Despite this trend, Watkins assured fans that this style will not be implemented for ARC Raiders. "What I believe to be true is that we will maintain the current aesthetic that we have. It will fit within our sensibilities of how these things look and fit within the world and inside the fiction," he said.
Watkins did say there would be themed outfits for the game, just that it would fit their own aesthetic. He stated, "We're pretty protective of making sure that anything that goes into the game fits within the visual identity, fits within the tone, fits within the setting. I think because so much of our game is strong around that element, it would be really unfortunate to upset that by injecting, I don't know, a T-Rex costume running around suddenly - I don't think the novelty is worth the trade."

With Embark Studios’ player-centric approach to the game, ARC Raiders may very well top the charts for a very long time, with it currently being the #1 top-selling game and #4 most-played game on Steam.
ARC Raiders is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below.
