Remedy Entertainment Provides Updates on Upcoming Titles and Publishing Strategy

A slate of Remedy Entertainment's upcoming games such as Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor has entered significant stages in their development cycles. The updates were recently shared in the company’s latest financial earnings report, which offered insights into the progress of each project and the overall direction of Remedy.

Control 2 Enters 'Production Readiness Stage'

Control 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit Control, has reached an important milestone in its development, the company said. According to Remedy, the game has "progressed to the production readiness stage," meaning it is now playable, and the development team is focused on scaling up production. Production readiness is a phase that involves extensive game testing and performance benchmarking, and assuring the game meets the standards.

Remedy also noted that Control Ultimate Edition, developed in collaboration with Apple, is set to launch on Apple silicon Macs sometime within the year.

Codename Condor in Full Production

Remedy also touched on the development of Codename Condor, the multiplayer spin-off set in the Control universe. The project is currently in full production, with the team working on multiple maps and mission types. The studio said it has been conducting both internal and limited external playtesting for feature validation and feedback. Condor is Remedy’s first foray into live-service games, and it will be released with a "service-based fixed price."

In addition to these updates, the Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs, was noted to have garnered impressive press reviews and fan feedback. The company revealed that Alan Wake 2 has already recouped most of its development and marketing expenses, indicating that the game is performing well. Remedy also confirmed that a Physical Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 is set to release soon in October 22, with a Collector’s Edition slated later in December. Pre-orders for both editions are now available on the Alan Wake official website.

The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake, which Remedy is co-producing with Rockstar Games, has moved from the production readiness phase to full production. Remedy stated that the team is currently working on a version of the game that is playable from start to finish, "while focusing on key differentiating gameplay features" that they hope will set it apart.

Control and Alan Wake 'Key Part' of Remedy's Future

Remedy also highlighted their strategy for the future, particularly regarding the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Earlier this year, Remedy acquired the rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, which granted them complete control over the series’ future, development, publishing, and other related matters.

With full control of the IP and publishing rights for both series, Remedy said it is carefully considering self-publishing and other business models for Control and Alan Wake, and plans to reveal more about their strategy by the end of the year. The company is currently exploring options for self-publishing as well as potential partnerships with other publishers for its long-term business prospects.

"We have two established own franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are linked through the Remedy Connected Universe. Growing and expanding these franchises will be a key part of our future. In addition, we work with a partner franchise Max Payne that was originally created by Remedy," the company stated.

As the year progresses, fans can expect more announcements regarding the company’s plans for the Control and Alan Wake franchises, as well as further developments on their upcoming games.
