Players are Refunding MWR on Steam

The H2M-Mod Project, announced in 2023, aimed to revive Modern Warfare Remastered multiplayer on PC (Steam) with features like 50 maps, a new progression system, attachments, camos, and MW2 killstreaks.

However, the mod’s team announced on X (formerly Twitter) that they received a cease-and-desist order from Activision Publishing, forcing them to shut down all operations immediately.

The tweet swiftly went viral, garnering over 12 million views, 36,000 likes, and 10,000 retweets. Fans expressed their frustration by tagging Activision and voicing their disappointment, with some going so far as to refund the game on Steam. This response came from players who had recently purchased the game out of excitement for the mod and as a protest in support of the developers.

Notable figures like @ModernWarzone and @FaZe_Rain, as well as esports team HEROIC, also voiced their discontent, with HEROIC commenting that fans "can’t have nice things. "

As of writing, the only update fans have received is that the H2M-Mod developers have re-confirmed that they are "done. " We will update this article as further information becomes available.
