Todd Howard Confirms Mod Support for Starfield

An exciting development for the modding community is underway as Todd Howard has recently confirmed that Starfield will officially support mods in 2024. Bethesda has a history of supporting mods for their games, and titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4 have thriving modding communities even to this day.

Todd Howard has shared that making planets was the most time consuming and challenging part of the development process. It wasn’t just creating the actual planet itself, but rather making the planets interesting was the biggest challenge. They had sought to create a system of worlds that was equally visually pleasing and compelling, as they provided a lot of opportunities for players to explore.

Bethesda Head of Publishing Pete Hines has teased in the past what kind of mods players can expect in Starfield. "When you start to think of the kind of communities that come around Bethesda Games Studios games, and putting a tool like that in the hands of people to go, 'how'd you like to make a planet?' he says. All of that is going to be off the charts when you start getting a community come in and add all of the different things that they want to bring to it. Build their own stories they want to tell, whatever it is".

Starfield isn’t running short on mods as it is already, just barely over a week since its release, and it looks like the community will get to do more, as getting the tools to build anything, from new planets to questlines, seems like a possibility.
