New Playable Environment, Boss Battles, and More
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will soon receive a massive update. Developer Sandfall Interactive published a blog post yesterday, October 8, to announce that the free update will include a new playable area, a new boss, and other additions detailed in their message to fans, thanking them for "5 million copies sold worldwide."
With Expedition 33 reaching over 5 million copies sold, the developers wanted to bring more content to the game as a sign of gratitude to their fans. As such, players will get to experience a new adventure with the members of Expedition 33.
For late-game enthusiasts, the update will also add new challenging boss battles. Additionally, there will be new costumes for each member of the expedition, as well as new text and UI game localizations for Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, and more.
It was previously hinted by Expedition 33 Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen that a DLC or expansion could be possible, given the game’s overwhelming success. The team also noted in June that they were working on a wide range of future improvements, which gave fans more hope that the game will receive more content.
Now that Sandfall Interactive has confirmed that there will be a big update coming, fans are excited to experience new adventures with the members of Expedition 33. During an interview with Eurogamer on the same day, Game Director Guillaume Broche stated that fans can expect "a bit of whee, and a bit of whoo as well" on the update.
He explained, "It's not a super big DLC extension with hours of content. It's more a thank you gift from us. You will have quite a few things to do and collect…[and] some quality of life [additions] that are very highly requested by the community."
As of writing, Sandfall Interactive has yet to announce when this update will drop.
5 Million Copies Sold and 333 Million Soundtrack Streams
As mentioned above, Expedition 33 has reached over 5 million copies sold just five months after its release. The developers extended their gratitude to the fans who have supported the game through their artwork, stories, cosplays, and creativity.
Aside from this milestone, the game’s original soundtrack is also making waves, reaching "over 333 million track streams since its release". With the announcement of the upcoming update, Expedition 33 will likely continue breaking records and tell more amazing stories in the Belle Époque-inspired world.
