Possibly the Final GBA Game is in Development

    Image

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution could be the final GBA game in development. Learn more about its origins, creative team, estimated release date, and supported platforms.

Shantae Advance: Risky Evolution Returns to Gameboy Advance

    Existed as An Unfinished Demo

Fans of the iconic Shantae series have reason to celebrate as WayForward and Limited Run Games announce the revival of the long-lost sequel, Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution. After being shelved for nearly two decades, this highly anticipated game is back in development, set to bring the authentic handheld experience originally planned all those years ago.

Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution will now reach its full potential as a finished game, having previously only existed as an incomplete demo. The franchise's trademark hair-whipping, belly-dancing action will be present for fans to enjoy. Six creature changes, several cities and labyrinths, numerous chapters, challenging boss fights, and original music composed by renowned Maddie Lim are all included in the game. A spectacular 4-player fight option will also be available for gamers.

    Game Reunites Original Creative Team

    Image

The talented design team behind the Shantae franchise, which includes series creator Erin Bozon, director Matt Bozon, and programmer Michael Stragey, reunites in Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution. The team wants to faithfully finish the game using the same technology and procedures utilized during the first production phase, drawing on development tools from the GBA period.

The Shantae series' director, Matt Bozon, is passionate about bringing the long-forgotten Shantae sequel back. He explains that the crew came back together to reconstruct the original game demo and calls the procedure an incredible adventure. He is now committed to finishing the game with the original GBA-era equipment and resources. Bozon notes that this is an actual GBA-era game that was previously abandoned, not a remake or a retro-style game.

After pausing work on the project in 2004, the team has since picked it back up, utilizing the same hardware and software. Bozon describes their quest as a time-travel expedition to salvage Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution and give it to the fans despite the difficulties, expressing joy and commitment.

    Will Be Released Early 2024

Early 2024 is the anticipated release date, letting fans play the eagerly anticipated sequel on the original handheld console. Future announcements will provide further details, such as the preorder window for the game.
