Leaves Naughty Dog To Studio Leadership Team and Neil Druckmann
After 25 years with the company, Evan Wells, co-president of Naughty Dog, has announced his retirement. After a lengthy discussion with the studio's management team, Wells has decided to leave, and he was thankful for the chance to have worked at Naughty Dog.
He claimed that the time was right for him to step aside and let the other members of the Studio Leadership Team steer the studio toward a bright future.
"I'm incredibly confident that Neil and the rest of the studio leadership team will continue to build on Naughty Dog's legacy of excellence," Wells said. "I'm excited to see what they accomplish in the coming years."
Although Wells' resignation is a significant loss for Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann is an excellent choice to lead the studio. Druckmann, a talented game director and author, oversaw the creation of some of Naughty Dog's most well-known titles like the Unchartered series and The Last of Us. He will surely continue the studio's tradition of excellence in the future.
Wells' 25 Years of Unmatched Legacy
Druckmann praised Wells in a tweet, calling his legacy unmatched. Druckmann said, "Sad to see my boss, mentor, partner, friend leave... but happy for him to enjoy a well-earned retirement! Evan, your unmatched legacy will forever be part of Naughty Dog!"
In 1998, Wells joined Naughty Dog and contributed to many highly regarded games, such as Crash Team Racing, Jak & Daxter, Uncharted, and The Last of Us. After studio founders Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin left, he was appointed co-president in 2005.
Neil Druckmann will take over as co-president in his place, making him the sole president of Naughty Dog.
