Pokemon Unite Game Producer Jonathan Chao Parts Ways with Tencent

Senior Game Producer at Tencent, Jonathan Chao, announced in a Twitter post on September 22, 2023 that he will no longer be part of Tencent / Timi starting tomorrow, September 23, 2023.

Worked on Pokemon UNITE and Other Tencent Projects

Jonathan Chao worked for Tencent for two and a half years, starting on April 2021, and worked on many projects. His most notable project was Pokemon UNITE where he took the role of live producer and project manager for the game.
He also conducted market and product analysis to pitch new game ideas directly to Tencent and the Pokemon Company executives.

Worked for Ubisoft Shanghai and Riot Games, Founded Rachet Studio

Jonathan Chao also worked for Ubisoft Shanghai and Riot Games prior to joining Tencent. He was a Production Manager for multiple F2P games of Ubisoft, then was promoted to Associate Producer for Far Cry.
He worked as a Producer for League of Legends: Wild Rift where he managed all in-game gameplay systems.

Jonathan Chao was also the founder of Ratchet Studio during his early years. It is a small company that specializes on improving mobile gaming user experience by focusing on depth and replayability.

Players Saddened to Lose Inside Voice to Pokemon Unite Developers

Pokemon UNITE players have expressed their sadness for Jonathan Chao's departure from Tencent due to the his major contributions to the game. Players appear to have seen Jonathan Chao as an inside voice to the development team and are sad to see him go. Jonathan Chao's response to the above tweet also appear to echo some sentiments that not all is well in the Pokemon Unite Development team. The gratitude by players for the former Tencent Game Producer's immense commitment in improving the game for players however, is very apparent.
