Recent reports about the much-awaited Nintendo Switch 2 have gathered traction, suggesting a substantial advancement in the gaming industry. According to current information, Nintendo has been diligently getting ready for the launch of its next-generation platform for several months.
Activision Blizzard executives, including CEO Bobby Kotick, met with Nintendo in December 2022 to discuss the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. During this FTC hearing, Activision Blizzard revealed a redacted NG Switch Draft.pdf document, providing essential details about the console's expected performance.

According to the document, the next Switch will have performance capabilities comparable to those of the well-known PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Activision Blizzard highlighted the NG Switch's compatibility with Gen8 consoles and expressed hope about the possibility of designing engaging gaming experiences for the platform. They also underlined the value of early access to development hardware prototypes to facilitate a smooth transition.

During his testimony at the FTC v. Microsoft hearing, Bobby Kotick regretted not bringing the famous Call of Duty franchise on the Nintendo Switch. Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley and the attorneys for the FTC both asked questions in response to this news about the possibility of Call of Duty on the Switch.

Surprisingly, it was revealed that the Microsoft-Nintendo pact included provisions to bring a future Call of Duty edition to a forthcoming Nintendo device, subject to regulatory clearance of the Microsoft-Activision Blizzard merger.

Tech Demos and Game Development

According to sources, Nintendo showed technical demonstrations of the next-generation console to trusted developers at Gamescom, confirming the Nintendo Switch 2's promising future. These demos include much improved renditions of well-known games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Epic Games' breathtaking The Matrix Awakens, which uses Unreal Engine 5 technology.

It's worth noting that Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology, paired with ray tracing, was used in these demos. This suggests that the processor within the following Switch might provide the most recent AAA gaming experiences, stretching the limits of what users can anticipate from a device.
