Hollow Knight Overview
Hollow Knight is a critically acclaimed 2D action-adventure game developed and published by Team Cherry. It was first released on February 24, 2017 for PC and on various consoles in 2018. It received four free downloadable content (DLC) after its release, with Godmaster being the most recent.
The game plunges players into the heart of Hallownest, an underground kingdom now in ruins. As the silent, insectoid Knight, players explore this interconnected land, battling the Infection that plagues its inhabitants. Hollow Knight Gameplay
Combat in Hollow Knight involves using the Nail, a weapon that acts similarly to a sword, to defeat enemies and bosses, with precise timing and movement often playing a critical role. Beyond this, players can also acquire spells for ranged attacks, which consume "Soul," the life force generated from bugs. These resources can be gained by striking enemies.
Exploration is non-linear, with interconnected areas that, in true Metroidvania fashion, become accessible as players unlock more items or movement abilities, such as wall-jumping, dashing, and double-jumping. Progressing involves collecting charms to customize abilities and upgrading equipment to better defeat bosses and gain more powers or access to previously unreachable areas.
