Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is a 2.5D side-scrolling action RPG developed by ArtPlay and published by 505 Games, scheduled for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam, Epic Games.
Set in 16th-century England after the events of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the game follows two heroes as they storm the Ethereal Castle to confront the demonic forces of the Demon Lord Elias, whose army—the Sanguinaries—has begun to devastate the land.
As players explore the castle, they’ll collect powerful equipment, forge alliances with new allies, and engage in intense battles. The game introduces a dynamic time-of-day system—dawn, day, dusk, and night—each affecting lighting, gameplay, and world interaction in meaningful ways. The new playable characters are brought to life through the Epiphany Combat System, which enables players to unlock powerful abilities and master combat through fluid, innovative mechanics.

Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is a 2.5D side-scrolling action-adventure Metroidvania where players take control of both Leonard and Alexander, switching between them on the fly. Each character comes with distinct weapons, armor, and stats, offering different approaches to combat and exploration. While one character is directly controlled, the other fights alongside as an AI companion, providing support in battle. Their teamwork is essential to overcoming the castle’s many dangers.
Core gameplay features include exploration, ingredient gathering, crafting upgrades, discovering magical abilities, and equipping powerful weapons, armor, and enchantments. Set within what is described as the largest map in the Bloodstained series, players will infiltrate the demon-infested Ethereal Castle and fight to survive against the terrifying Sanguinaries.
