Best Dribble Style

Signature Size-up

Signature size-up refers to the crossovers, tweens (between the legs), and behind the back dribbles performed by the player when standing still. Your Size-up should be chained together and mixed in with your other dribble moves whenever performing combos for maximum effectiveness. Your Signature Size-up package affects how fast your player performs standing dribbles and how they dribble. Some size-up packages are shifty, some are fast, but a lot are sluggish so choose wisely.

Regular Breakdown

Regular Breakdown is an animation composed of a specific set of dribble moves performed by your player. This can be used to easily perform a set of dribble moves with a single upward flick of the right stick. Similar to Regular Breakdowns, Aggressive Breakdowns are essentially the same thing. As its name suggests, it is a more aggressive and space-creating set of dribble moves easily performed by holding R2/RT while flicking up once on the right stick. These also aren’t used as often for the same reason as its regular version. It’s nice to have these best ones though as you can mix them in with your dribble combos and speed boost out of them.

Escape Moves are essentially the same as Size-ups, but with much bigger movements that can be used to quickly reposition during dribble combinations. Because your Signature Size-up is the one responsible for your standing crossovers, this animation package refers to only your moving crossovers. However, some animations are explosive, allowing you to quickly change your direction and get open while moving.

Hesitation

Hesitation moves involve momentarily slowing down or changing the pace of dribbling to deceive defenders. Some hesitation animations are deceivingly quick, and are excellent for speed boosting when you cancel the animation or run right before the animation starts. The Spin move in NBA 2K24 involves a player spinning while dribbling to flashily evade defenders. These moves aren’t useful anymore since they removed the spin back from previous NBA 2K games. Penny Hardaway is currently the only viable spin move in the game right now, which should still be avoided in competitive environments, due to how spinning would often leave the dribbler vulnerable to a steal.

Stepback

The Stepback move involves your dribble pullback and stepback animations. These animations are important for all dribblers as they create so much space to either shoot or speed boost out of. With the animations below, you can easily get open just by flicking down on your right stick.
