The changes to the MyPlayer builder has NBA 2K players confused in regards to what the best builds are. Read on to learn more about what we think are the best builds along with their play styles, roles, and what game modes they are good for.
NBA 2K24 Best Builds
Below are what we think the best builds are in NBA 2K24. Note that these are to be used as templates and tweaked to better fit a player. For example, if you play exclusively in the park and have no need for the Free Throw attribute, you are encouraged to put those attributes into something else that may be more useful to you like Perimeter Defense or Steal.
Guard Builds
6’2 Pure Offense Point Guard
This pure offense build is an absolute beast on offense, but is very limited on defense. This build gets a 96 Three-Point Shot, which gives you all the shooting badges on Hall of Fame (HOF) or Gold. With this shooting setup, you will be lethal from beyond the line, being able to make tough shots from deep. You’ll also have the best ball handling build, as your playmaking attributes unlock all the best dribbling badges and animations. Your superior shooting and playmaking go hand-in-hand as your dribbling capabilities will help you get to your shooting spots quickly and effectively.
65 Pass Accuracy is enough to make good passes, but if you are running with a dedicated squad, turn your Pass Accuracy up to 75-77 while further lowering your Perimeter Defense/Steal. It’s hard to defend ball handlers with this build so let your lock (Lockdown Defender) take care of that while you guard the opponent’s corner shooter.
Your finishing should be just enough to make open dunks/layups. But it’s nothing spectacular, so you should avoid forcing contested dunks or layups. Finally, your size and your physical attributes will make you the fastest build in the game.
This build is great for 3v3 and 5v5 game modes, but struggles with 2v2 game modes due to your lack of defense.
6’6 All Around Point Guard
This build is what I would say is the counterpart of the 6’9 demigods from NBA 2K23. Like the 6'9 builds from last year, this build can truly do everything well on offense with an 86 Driving Dunk, a 92 Three-Point Shot, and a 93 Ball Handle.
Your finishing attributes will allow you to get Posterizer on Silver and will help you convert easy dunks into points. Your 92 Three-Point Shot gets you Silver Agent 3 and Silver Limitless Range, which makes you a threat from deep as well. Your 93 Ball Handle unlocks most of the best dribble moves, excluding the ones restricted for builds under 6'5.
Finally, this build can play defense at an acceptable level. You won't be as capable as a lockdown defender would, but you should still be able to hold your own on that side of the floor. Although your speed, playmaking, and shooting aren't as good as the smaller guard builds, you more than make up for it with your versatility, size, and defensive capabilities.
This build is great for all game modes and is an excellent choice if you want a versatile guard build.
Lockdown Defender Builds
6’4 Shooting Guard Build
This build, although not a pure lockdown, is a very capable 2-way build that can create shots off the dribble. This build boasts a 96 Three-Point Shot rating, which unlocks all of the important HOF and Gold shooting badges. 85 Perimeter Defense unlocks Silver clamps while your 91 Steal rating gives you Gold Glove.
These enable you to play very good perimeter defense, but unlike pure lockdown builds, you won’t really be able to defend the paint very well. Your 85 Ball Handle rating makes you a capable ball handler, but you won’t be able to dribble as effectively as the different guard builds we listed above.
Your finishing attributes will guarantee open layups and dunks, but like the 6’2 offensive guard, you shouldn’t force anything inside given the lack of finishing attributes and badges.
This build works well on pretty much all game modes, but for 5v5 matches, you’re better off playing as a secondary playmaker and more of a catch and shoot wing role.
6’7 Pure Lockdown Build
This pure lockdown build is the best defensive build in the game, while still being an off-the-ball threat on offense. If you look at the stats, the defense of this build goes crazy.
Although you can turn up the Perimeter Defense and Steal ratings to 99, doing so isn’t really recommended as those few points are very expensive and your dunk rating would have to suffer by a lot. 97 Perimeter Defense and 96 Steal is more than enough to make your opposing point guard cry. Meanwhile, your Interior Defense and Block ratings give you Anchor on Silver, enabling you to defend the rim at a high level. Your 86 Driving Dunk gives you Posterizer on Silver, which is perfect for this build since you will often find yourself in fastbreak situations, thanks to your high defensive stats. Your 79 Three-Point rating is just enough to make open shots from the corner consistently.
Offense on this build is highly dependent on the playmaker of your team, as you cannot create your own shots. You’ll have to rely on your point guard to pass you the ball when you are open or when you cut to the basket. The only consistent way to score by yourself is when you steal the ball and have an open lane for a dunk.
This build is best played in the 3v3 and 5v5 game modes.
Big Man Builds
6’8 Popper Build
As a popper (shooting big man), your job is to defend and rebound at a high level while capitalizing on open jump shots and easy dunks. This build does exactly that. With this defense and rebounding setup, you will be able to guard anyone and everyone from small guards to 7 foot big men.
This build gets Gold Anchor, Gold Rebound Chaser, HOF box, Gold Glove, Gold Interceptor, Silver Clamps, and more. Like the pure lock build, the offensive capabilities of this build lies with your point guard. You won’t be able to create your own shots, but you will do just fine as a catch-and-shoot threat.
The build can also capitalize on defenders guarding you too closely, as you can run past them and dunk the ball whenever you’re open. At only 6'8, you may struggle to grab rebounds against taller builds, but you make up for it with your ability to space the floor and by being really fast as a big man.
This build is the best popper build for all game modes, but should be played as a power forward in 5v5 game modes alongside an interior big man.
7’0 Interior Big Build
This build is the king of interior defense and rebounding. At 7 feet tall and almost an 8 feet wingspan, you will tower over your opponents, making it easy to finish inside, block shots, and grab rebounds. Moreover, your attributes allow you to get HOF Rebound Chaser, solidifying the build’s position as the best rebounding build in the game.
An 86 Pass Accuracy gives you Break Starter on Gold, and pairs perfectly well with the superior rebounding this build has. It’ll enable you to throw full-court outlet passes to your teammates after a rebound.
Finishing in this build feels incredible, being able to dunk on everyone thanks to your attributes and your size. On offense, you should look to set pick and roll plays with your point guard for easy dunks.
The only downsides to using this build is that you are slow and you can’t shoot. However, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Considering your speed, positioning will be key to making this build work.
This build works on all game modes, but shouldn’t be played with other finishing builds as you’ll only clog up the paint.
