In Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis, players follow Qtie, a reclusive hikikomori–a severe form of social withdrawal– who has retreated from the harsh realities of life into the comforting but dangerous embrace of her obsessions. Qtie's mental health has deteriorated significantly, resulting in a "fuzzy" and distorted perception of reality. Her intense and obsessive love for the fictional character Yunyun has become more than just a coping mechanism; it's a full-blown illness.
Yunyun is not just any fictional character; she is the center of Qtie's universe. Portrayed as an "angelic devil," Yunyun professes her love for Qtie, communicating through Qtie's monitor screen. Whether Yunyun is a figment of Qtie's imagination or something more sinister is left ambiguous. The truth remains elusive, hinting at the depth of Qtie's psychological turmoil. This ambiguous nature of Yunyun blurs the line between reality and delusion, leaving players to question what is real and what is not.

In Yunyun Syndrome!? Rhythm Psychosis, the gameplay mechanics blend rhythm-based action with social media interaction to create a unique and immersive experience. Players control Qtie, a hikikomori whose obsession with denpa songs, Japanese music that’s strange and catchy, and the fictional character Yunyun drives the narrative forward. At the start of each song, players browse social media to check on the status of Qtie's Yunyun cult and her detractors.
As the denpa song progresses, players must time their actions to make anonymous posts on social media. Successfully posting during these high-intensity moments spreads Qtie's Yunyun-brain obsession to other users, causing them to become psychotically Yunyun-ified. The game features over 30 denpa songs, each contributing to the surreal and chaotic atmosphere as players navigate Qtie's descent into madness while attempting to influence the virtual world through her viral, heartful psychosis.
