Fate/EXTRA Record Gameplay
Fate/EXTRA Record will have the same dungeon-exploration gameplay as its predecessor. It will also retain its strict time-based deadlines, requiring players to carefully plan their daily actions before the inevitable fight at the end of the duration. This will include gathering information on their enemies and loot from dungeons.
On the other hand, combat will no longer use the rock-paper-scissors-type gameplay that the PSP title had. Instead, a Servant’s usable actions are now lined up in a rotating queue of commands that cost a certain amount of AP. Each action will also flow seamlessly with the others, allowing players to form a sort of combo.
Unlike in the previous game, each side will have its own turns instead of taking them simultaneously.
Fate/EXTRA Record Story Plot
Fate/EXTRA Record Story
As Fate/EXTRA Record is a remaster of the original PlayStation Portable title, Fate/EXTRA, its plot should remain largely unchanged. It will follow Hakuno Kishinami and her participation in the Moon Cell Holy Grail War together with her Servant. There, the protagonist will meet familiar faces from the Fate franchise, such as Rin Tohsaka, Cu Chulainn, and Taiga Fujimura, who will either support them or stand in their way of ultimate victory.
However, the protagonist has unique circumstances that qualify them to participate in the Holy Grail War. She, unlike the other Masters, has no recollection of their past. Hence, her fight isn’t simply to achieve the wish-granting relic but also to find herself.
Fate/EXTRA Record Setting
The game takes place in 2030, in an alternate universe parallel to the events of Fate/Stay Night. The setting is at Tsukumihara Academy, a fictional school situated within the artificial Moon Cell environment.
Fate/EXTRA Record Characters
Hakuno Kishinami
Hakuno is a Master studying at Tsukumihara Academy, with no recollection of their past. After narrowly advancing through the preliminary selection, they became one of 128 contenders in the Moon Cell’s simulated Holy Grail War. They can choose Saber, Archer, or Caster as a Servant.
Saber (Nero Claudius)
Nero is one of Hakuno's Servants, with a Noble Phantasm called Aestus Domus Aurea. Although she was infamous for her tyranny as an emperor and her lofty self-image as an artist rivaling the gods, she was, at heart, a benevolent ruler who genuinely sought the welfare of her people.
