E3 is set to make a physical return in June 2023. Read on to discover the latest schedule for E3, which companies have confirmed their attendance, which companies won't be attending, and Game8's predictions for E3's future.
E3 2023 Schedule
E3 2023 Will Be Held From June 11th - 17th
E3 will be having a Digital Week starting from Sunday, June 11th until Saturday, June 17th. It will have a separate event for Industry and Gamers on June 13th, and June 15th, respectively.

Confirmed Game Company Attendees
Ubisoft Will Attend
ReedPop, the organizers of E3 2023, have been relatively secretive about the companies attending the event. While they have promised a diverse range of exhibitors, from AAA companies to indie developers and tech firms, they have yet to reveal the names of the companies that will be present.
However, one company that has confirmed its attendance at E3 2023 is Ubisoft. The publisher has announced that it will have a strong lineup of games to show attendees, suggesting it will be a significant presence at the event.
In contrast, Xbox, Sony, and Nintendo have opted out of attending E3 2023. Xbox will hold its own Xbox Games Showcase event on June 11th, followed by a Starfield Direct event, but may still participate in E3 Digital Week by co-streaming their events. This decision has left many industry insiders speculating about the future of E3 and whether other companies will follow suit and choose to hold their own events instead of attending the traditional trade show.
Nintendo, Sony, & Xbox Not Attending E3
E3 Is Not The Same Without The Big 3
Due to the pandemic, E3 was not held in 2020 and 2021, which allowed the major console manufacturers, Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo, to establish their own showcases instead of relying on E3. As a result, these companies may not participate in E3 in the future, potentially harming the event.
However, E3 could still be a valuable platform for game publishers that must showcase their games and establish partnerships. This suggests that E3 could benefit smaller game developers or publishers with different resources than the primary console manufacturers.
Furthermore, the absence of Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo from E3 could benefit other companies, such as Steamdeck, a handheld gaming device that has been gaining more and more traction. Without competition from the major console manufacturers, Steamdeck could generate more attention at E3.
