Mewgenics' creators discuss having plans to make an official launcher for the game along with adding mod support for players. No set timeline has been confirmed due to the focus on the development of a DLC.
February 22
Co-creator Tyler Glaiel suggests that a release for Mewgenics DLC is possible by the end of next year. The developers have at least 2 potential upcoming DLCs for the game. For now, they are focusing on improvements and fixes to give players a smoother experience.

Mewgenics reached a feat of 115,428 concurrent players, beating the record of another popular roguelike game, namely Hades 2. The community speculates that just like the Hades series, Mewgenics may also be up for potential nominations in future game award shows.

In a Reddit AMA, Edmund McMillen confirmed plans for developing a DLC in the coming months. He and Tyler Glaiel will continue to observe the community to potentially add new classes for the cats or what players may likely ask for. They expect the timeline for the DLC's release roughly one year after from the base game's launch.

Mewgenics developers confirmed a release date in their announcement trailer, through a collaboration with YouTuber MeatCanyon. The game is set to launch through Steam on February 10, 2026.

Mewgenics was announced in the 2025 PC Gaming Show through a teaser trailer on April 6. Both Tyler Glaiel and Edmund McMillen share the video on their official channels, confirming the two have paired up again for the development of this next project of theirs.

Edmund McMillen explains the long journey he had to take in order to return to working on Mewgenics. After reclaiming rights to the title, he and Tyler Glaiel were set to develop the game.
