Despite being a worldwide release, Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo was only shown in the Nintedo Direct Japan. We can’t help but wonder why it was only featured there, but here’s what we learned from the announcement trailer.
The release date of the game varies per platform. It will be available on Steam from March 8, 2023, and March 9, 2023, on Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop. As of writing, you can only pre-purchase the game on Steam.
Paranormasight: The Seven of Honjo is a 2D visual novel horror-adventure game, set during Japan's Showa Period in Tokyo’s Sumida City, Honjo. Players are able to control multiple characters that can use their curses as powers while they explore the city, solve puzzles, and investigate Honjo’s mysteries.

Multiple Endings & Playable Characters
Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo follows several protagonists who possess the power of curses, giving them special abilities that can help them solve puzzles and uncover clues for their investigation. However, you’ll have to be on guard as there are other cursed people in the world.
Make your decisions carefully or you might meet your demise. However, keep in mind that certain deaths, rather than leading to a game over, instead lead to an alternate path in the story. These multiple story paths add a level of replayability, as you will want to find out what happens to each character in each situation.
Investigations and Puzzle Solving
Paranormasight features a point-and-click puzzle mechanic to investigate the environment and gather important clues to unravel the Seven mysteries of Honjo. Players will have to explore different areas Sumida city and solve puzzles by interacting with various things, such as picking them up or analyzing them. Keep your eyes peeled and make sure to check every corner!

Mysteries Based on Real Urban Legends
The announcement trailer featured a few well-known Japanese urban legends in Sumida, known as Honjo during the Edo era of Japan. Here’s what we got so far:

| The Whispering Canal | A strange phenomenon where fishermen would hear a mysterious voice in the canal that ran through Honjo, whispering to leave their buckets of fish behind. Those who chose to ignore the voice would be dragged into the canal, never to return. |
| The One-Sided Reed | After being rejected multiple times by the woman he fell in love with, Tomeza, in a fit of rage, assaulted her with a dagger, severing her arm and leg on one side before dumping them into the canal. Ever since that day, the reeds along the canal have only grown leaves on one side. |
| The Beckoning Light | Even though no one else is nearby, a hazy lantern can be seen along the road at Ho'onji at night. Some claim the flame is helpful, guiding people to their houses, while others think it leads people astray. |
| The Haunting Clappers | A night watchman patrols the dark streets of Iriecho, announcing his presence by shouting warnings and striking his wooden clappers. Until one night, a set of clappers answers back. Others say it was the work of a mischievous tanuki or the spirit of someone who died in a fire. |

The game’s setting has been developed with the support of the local tourist organizations and community of Sumida, featuring real-life photos of Honjo and Sumida in some areas of the game with detailed 360-degree views of the city.
Japanese urban legends are always filled with curses, demons, and bizarre situations that make you uncomfortable yet interested enough that you can't look away, so if you like Japanese culture and would like to experience the thrill of spine-chilling ghost stories, then this game is for you.
