Zelda Beats Out PlayStation Exclusive as Most Wishlisted Game
Report Should Not Indicate Sales Performances
As reported by GamesIndustry.Biz, Nintendo's upcoming Switch title, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, became the most wishlisted game announced over the course of the summer showcase events, surpassing all other major 2024 reveals made recently. This information was based on data from IGN Playlist, The list, which is compiled using data from IGN Playlist—a backlog and play activity tracker available online and via mobile app—revealed the top games from this summer's showcases that players on IGN are most hyped for.
While this list provides insight into player anticipation, it should not be viewed as an indicator of future sales performance, as noted by the site. This ranking was based on data collected from May 30 to June 23, and focused solely on games revealed during the summer showcases.
The top three most wishlisted games include Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Astro Bot. Before the recent Nintendo Direct in June 2024, the PlayStation 5 exclusive title, Astro Bot, held the top spot. However, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom surged ahead, taking the number one position. The top five is completed by Gears of War: E-Day and the remake of the Nintendo 64 classic, Perfect Dark. Other notable entries in the top ten include fellow Nintendo Switch titles Mario & Luigi: Brothership at sixth place and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in tenth place.
In this game, Princess Zelda takes center stage to save Hyrule. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom features an exciting new chapter where players control Zelda and embark on a quest to save Hyrule from impending doom. While specifics about how Echoes of Wisdom fits into the broader Zelda timeline are still unconfirmed, the story promises an adventure-filled narrative. The kingdom of Hyrule is under threat as its people, including the legendary hero Link, mysteriously disappear through strange rifts.
The game is set to launch on September 26 for the Nintendo Switch.
