The Hero of Yokohama Arrives to Sonic Racing: Crossworlds

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds introduces "Yakuza: Like a Dragon" series protagonist Ichiban Kasuga to the roster as a free character in the latest update. Ichiban's addition to the roster comes with a new a "Dragon Brave" vehicle, two Like a Dragon songs in the Jukebox, and new custom emotes. There will also be a limited-time Festival themed around Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which will only be active from November 7 at 4:00 PM PT until November 10 at 3:59 AM PT.
The festival will allow players to collect Festival Points when competing in online multiplayer races, and as they progress, players can unlock exclusive rewards. This includes a "The Dragon's Heir" title, several decals, and a Like a Dragon-themed horn.

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is the latest entry in the Sonic Racing franchise. Speeding Through the Sonic Racing: Crossworlds DLC Lineup

Ichiban Kasuga is the third of the free DLC characters released for Sonic: Crossworlds Racing. This also includes the recently released Joker from Persona 5 and Vocaloid star Hatsune Miku. SEGA has confirmed it plans to release free characters and karts every month, all of which will be crossovers with other SEGA properties. There are no announcements yet on who the next free character will be.
The game also offers a paid battle pass, which includes a selection of playable characters to add to the roster. Steve, Alex, and the Creeper from Minecraft were released as part of the game on October 9, 2025, and it is slated to release SpongeBob and Patrick from SpongeBob Squarepants as playable characters on December 31, 2025. SEGA also plans to release other guest characters in the future, such as Pac-Man, Mega Man, and unnamed characters from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Crossworlds Finds an Upgrade on Switch 2
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Sonic Crossworlds: Racing was also announced today through a trailer that was released on the official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook accounts.
The Switch 2 Edition, priced at $69.99 USD, is set for a December 4, 2025 release. Like most Switch 2 editions, it features upgraded graphics and performance compared to the Switch 1 version and can be purchased as a $10 upgrade if you already have the Switch 1 edition.
A physical cartridge is planned for sometime in 2026, and all versions will include the Sonic Unleashed-inspired “Werehog Pack” DLC until December 17, 2025.
Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and on Steam and Epic Games Store for PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 edition launching on December 4. To stay up to date with the latest news for the game, check out our article below!
