Hollow Knight: Silksong Hype Continues
No Early Review Codes

Hollow Knight: Silksong has finally announced its September 4th release date, and developer Team Cherry confirmed that it will not send out early review codes. In a Bluesky post by Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier on August 22, he stated that the developers "felt like it'd be unfair for critics to be playing before Kickstarter backers and other players."
This means that there won’t be any reviews coming out before the game launches. There may be reasons why a game will not send out early review codes, and Silksong’s hype alone could carry the game to its launch without any codes, considering the community has waited six years for its release.

However, not sending out release codes for some big titles was viewed as a red flag to players. Games such as MindsEye, Starfield, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not send out review codes or were very limited in handing them out. This generated numerous speculations from fans, and were ultimately centered around those games not having the best quality or the developers trying to control the perception of their game.
Regardless, Team Cherry’s reasoning was mostly about being fair and logistics. Schreier followed up his post with a comment stating that it would be difficult for the developers to send out codes since the release date is so close and they are only a small team.
Most fans understood this and continue to wait eagerly to get their hands on Hollow Knight’s long-awaited sequel. For those who want to get up to speed about Hollow Knight’s story and all the information so far before Silksong’s release, check out our article below!
Hollow Knight Breaks Steam Player Peak Record

Following the Silksong’s release date announcement, there was an uptick in the first game’s Steam player count. Hollow Knight broke its record for its peak concurrent players, reaching over 39k as of writing based on its SteamDB charts.
This almost doubles its original record in May 2022 of around 20k players, which indicates that players are very excited about Silksong’s upcoming release, leading them to return to Dirtmouth. There are only a couple of weeks left before the game becomes reality, and fans still have time to brush up on their Hollow Knight lore to have the best experience possible when Silksong arrives.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to be released on September 4, 2025, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
