Xbox Booth At Gamescom 2025 Will Feature Silksong and Other Major Titles
Silksong Demo on PC and ROG Xbox Ally X

Hollow Knight: Silksong will make its first playable demo debut at Gamescom 2025. In an article on Xbox Wire on July 28, Microsoft announced that Silksong will be featured at the Xbox Booth on August 20-24 at Gamescom 2025, which will be held in Cologne, Germany.
It will be playable at the booth via PC and Xbox’s upcoming handheld collaboration with Asus ROG, the ROG Xbox Ally X. This new portable gaming device was first revealed on the Xbox Games Show during Summer Game Fest 2025, where Silksong was featured to be playable.

The ROG Xbox Ally X features the Xbox interface, allowing users to access games across Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and more. It will be released this Holiday 2025, which coincides with the release of one of the highly anticipated titles to date, Silksong.
Xbox has yet to state how much content the demo will include, but fans are happy enough to know that Silksong is gaining traction and will be released sooner rather than later.
Winding Down To Its Eventual Release

2025 has been filled with teases and copium for Hollow Knight fans. This began with William Pellen, one of the game’s creators, tweeting on January 15 that "something big is coming". This coincided with Nintendo’s Switch 2 announcement, which ignited fan speculations that Silksong would be announced during the Switch 2 Direct in April 2025.
This was followed by a response from Team Cherry’s Marketing and Publishing Head Matthew "Leth" Griffin on January 18 to a fan on Twitter (X), where he stated that Silksong is "real, progressing, and will release." Months passed, and the Silksong community became desperate for any news regarding the sequel.

This was somewhat quenched, but sparked further speculations when Silksong’s metadata on Steam got updated, changing Team Cherry’s copyright from 2019 to 2025, which gave fans hope that Team Cherry would unveil new information, or at least appear on the Switch 2 Direct.
Silksong did appear on Nintendo’s online showcase for Switch 2, albeit just for a second. Its short feature did confirm that the game will launch on the Switch 2 in 2025, with no exact release date specified. Fans wondered whether this meant that Silksong would move on from the original Switch, but Team Cherry reaffirmed that the game will still release on the said console.

A month after its short tease at the Switch 2 Direct, Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI) announced on May 2 that Silksong’s demo will be available at the Game Worlds video game exhibition, which begins on September 18, 2025. Many speculated that this may be an indication of the game’s release window, but Team Cherry has yet to confirm anything.
Meanwhile, during the lead-up to Switch 2’s launch, Silksong had another update on its Steam data. This time, the developers updated their Steam package, which had been untouched for 15 months. As expected, Silksong fans rushed to make their speculations regarding this new info, and ultimately concluded that the game may be shadow dropped alongside Switch 2’s release.

This was not the case, but Silksong did have a busy weekend during the Summer Game Fest 2025. Being one of the most anticipated games in recent history, fans expected Silksong to be announced at arguably the biggest gaming event of the year and have a dedicated slot or time for the game.
Instead, the game was just called out during the reveal of Deadpool VR’s premiere, where, to Deadpool’s 4th wall-breaking humor, said, "You’re going to do me a solid and skip that Silksong trailer, so you can pimp my revolutionary VR game adventure that will shock the industry, probably." Team Cherry later confirmed that they were not aware of the callout and were surprised that a game would take their time to mention another title using their limited screen time.

Although it was just briefly mentioned on the Summer Game Fest 2025 main stage event, Silksong was then highlighted during the Xbox Games Show later that weekend. Xbox announced its collaboration with Asus ROG to produce the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, which will be launched on Holiday 2025.
Xbox President Sarah Bond stated during the presentation that "The highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong will be available at launch and in Game Pass when the Ally releases later this year." However, Team Cherry clarified on their Discord server that Silksong is not specifically a launch title for the ROG Xbox device, and is not tied to a console release.

The developers did confirm that the game will launch "BEFORE" holiday 2025, and with Silksong going to be featured at Gamescom 2025, the long-awaited sequel is finally inching closer to its eventual release.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to be released in 2025 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
