Sony may have confirmed the existence of the much-rumored PS5 Pro during celebrations for PlayStation's 30th anniversary. All credits go to some very eagle-eyed PS heads!
Sony Might Have Soft-Launched the PS5 Pro
If You Squint Hard Enough, You'll See It on Their Website
In a PlayStation Blog post earlier today, fans noticed what appeared to be a new PS5 design subtly hidden in an image shared by Sony on the website. The illustration of the console bore a striking resemblance to leaked images of the PS5 Pro that surfaced recently.
The discovery was made by an eagle-eyed fan who spotted the illustration in the background of the 30th Anniversary logo on Sony’s official website. The image has since caused speculation that Sony may be planning to unveil the PS5 Pro soon, possibly at the end of this month. While Sony hasn’t officially confirmed a State of Play event for the announcement, rumors are swirling that the much-rumored console will be revealed alongside a major event later this month.
In the meantime, Sony is pulling out all the stops for PlayStation's 30th anniversary celebrations. Players can enjoy special events such as a free trial of Gran Turismo 7, digital soundtracks from classic PlayStation games, and "create fun moments" with their new "Shapes of Play" collection. Shapes of Play will launch sometime in December 2024, through direct.playstation.com in the US, UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Benelux.
There’s also a free online multiplayer weekend and esports tournaments scheduled for September 21 and 22. "During those days, you can enjoy online multiplayer for games you own without having a PlayStation Plus membership, on PS5 and PS4 consoles," Sony said, with more details expected in the coming days.
