OD and Physint Updates From Hideo Kojima
Not Sure If OD Will Work Out

OD (Overdose), the upcoming horror title by Hideo Kojima, is so unique that even the creator himself is uncertain whether it will work out. Speaking with ananweb on December 7, the famed director shared some insights on his latest and future releases.
In September 2025, Kojima Productions held the "Beyond The Strand" livestream to celebrate its 10th anniversary. During the online event, the studio unveiled a new trailer for OD titled "Knock," which featured new cinematic footage for the game.

According to Kojima, the trailer seemed simple but contained hints on how the game works, though he remains tight-lipped about the game's exact nature or mechanics.
"I can’t say exactly what it is yet, nor do I know if it will work out. We’ve created stealth games and delivery games which were unlike anything before, but system-wise, they were similar to other games. This time, we’re trying to change the service model from the ground up, so it should be quite challenging. We’ve packed the trailer full of hints, so if you keep thinking about it, you might figure it out," he stated.
Of course, the stealth and delivery games that Kojima is referring to are his most famous works, the Metal Gear and Death Stranding series. Although most developers tend to continue producing games in the genre that they have been known for, Kojima Productions ventured into horror to create something "unprecedented."

The collaboration between Kojima and the Hollywood actor and director Jordan Peele has piqued the interest of many since it was revealed during The Game Awards 2023, especially since Kojima described the game as "a game but at the same time, a movie."
Furthermore, in an interview with SSENSE in July 2025, he stated that OD is "something totally different…people will love it or hate it." There is still much that fans want to know about Kojima’s upcoming horror project, and with The Game Awards 2025 just around the corner, the studio could reveal something during the popular gaming event just as they did in 2023.
Kojima Can Make PHYSINT In His Sleep

Aside from OD, Kojima is also working with PlayStation Studios to develop PHSYINT, a stealth action espionage game. This new title is in the vein of his previous works in the Metal Gear series, which is why he jokingly stated that he can make it in his sleep.
"As for ‘PHYSINT’, since it's an espionage game, I can make it even while sleeping (laughs). There is a soldier who infiltrates, if they are spotted by the enemy, they are attacked, when taking out the enemy one by one, you use stealth... No matter how it plays out, it becomes fun and can be easy to make. But, there is also a battle against that," Kojima said.

PHYSINT will also include new gimmicks and, similar to OD, will blend the art of games and filmmaking. Kojima elaborated, "We're thinking of working with film people, not only in terms of the cast but also staff, but I do wonder how it will turn out. Times are changing quickly these days so the social structures and themes that I'm trying to depict in the game might actually come sooner in reality."
Compared to OD, PHYSINT has yet to unveil any trailer for the game itself. However, fans are excited to see what Kojima has in store for gamers, especially since the game closely resembles his works in the Metal Gear franchise.
