The trailer appeared to be for a mature-rated horror game and featured a figure in a trench coat with a paper bag on their head, marked with a smiley face. Nintendo made no further announcements regarding the video.
This mysterious character, seemingly named Emio (or "笑み男," as the text appeared in the video, translates to "smiling man"), was the cause of intrigue among Nintendo fans on this particular Wednesday night. Emio sparked discussions about the video, with many viewers pointing out its bizarre and ominous tone, which is a departure from Nintendo’s typical vibrant and lively games.
The post on Nintendo Japan's account, meanwhile, included a description that contains a link to a page on the Nintendo eShop dedicated to this mysterious smiling man. The page currently does not contain much information regarding Emio, and only displays a looping background of this smiling figure Nintendo had just introduced.
