Mewgenics Devs Plan Mod Support and Official Launcher
"Eventually" Coming
Mewgenics will "eventually" have an official launcher and workshop support, says developer Tyler Glaiel. This was a response he made on X (Twitter) on February 23 to a fan’s question regarding the possibility of the game having official mod support.
According to Glaiel, they originally planned to use the same editors and launchers that he and Edmund McMillen used for their previous project, The End is Nigh, but noted that it may not be Steam Deck-verified. Because of this, he stated it could take them a little longer to create a new one.
Glaiel also revealed that the team is currently prioritizing support for non-Latin languages, suggesting that community creation tools may not arrive until much later in the development cycle.
Interaction With Fans
With Mewgenics now out for a couple of weeks, Glaiel wanted to ask fans about their experiences so far and what could be improved. In a series of X (Twitter) posts and replies earlier this week, the feline roguelike creator held an "ask me anything" to answer everyone’s queries about the game.
Most inquiries focused on potential quality-of-life enhancements, with a particular emphasis on refining the cat management system. Other players delved into the development process, questioning which bosses proved most challenging to design and how the team balanced the various cat classes.
Glaiel answered several other questions, including how the duo shared their ideas and what future buffs for cats they will add, before ultimately stopping and thanking fans for their submissions and inquiries.

The developers are committed to listening to player feedback, which they plan to use as a blueprint for shaping the game’s future DLC. Fans will need to be patient, though, as Glaiel indicated that the expansion is currently slated for a 2027 release.
Mewgenics is now available on PC via Steam, with console versions officially in development. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our page below.
