Unlike its first two installments, which were developed by Tarsier Studios, Little Nightmares 3 is being developed by the BAFTA-winning developer Supermassive Games, known for their acclaimed titles such as Until Dawn, Man of Medan, and The Devil in Me. Supermassive Games already has a history with the series, having collaborated with Bandai Namco in 2021 for the Little Nightmares 2 Stadia release, a cloud gaming service by Google that was discontinued in January of last year, and the Enhanced Edition for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

The Enhanced Edition introduced various improvements, including:
⚫︎ Beauty Mode: Little Nightmares II runs at 30fps at 4K resolution with optimized Ray Tracing.
⚫︎ Performance Mode: Locks the game at 60fps with dynamic resolution up to 4K to maintain 60fps with Ray Tracing.
⚫︎ Ray-Traced Reflections: Shiny surfaces provide reflections with clarity and definition depending on the surfaces.
⚫︎ Volumetric Shadows: Increased resolution of volumetric shadows with light rays disturbed by objects and characters.
⚫︎ Interactive Particles: Particles are more abundant and dynamically affected by characters, creating a more realistic environment.
⚫︎ Immersive Audio: New immersive 3D soundscape mix for a more involving experience with 5.1/7.1 audio systems or headphones.
These enhancements created a more realistic and immersive environment, significantly enhancing the overall gameplay experience. The PC version also benefited from these upgrades, which were customizable for users.

Tarsier Studio's Mystery Project

Tarsier Studio, the original developer of the first two Little Nightmares games, has not announced any new titles yet. However, they did tease an image of a boat in a sea of darkness on March 22nd, 2023, on their official Twitter (X) profile. The cryptic caption read, "New world. Emphasis on New," suggesting that the studio is working on a new game. This intriguing hint has sparked curiosity and anticipation among fans, eager to see what Tarsier Studio has in store for the future.
