Konami Announces Wai Wai World Craft on Tokyo Game Show 2025
The Konami presentation began with MC Miyu Hosoya introducing Hiroshi Tanibuchi, Executive Director of Kogado Studios, who showcased their new game, Wai Wai World Craft (tentative title). He was followed by Japanese comedian, Magical Lovely member, YouTuber, and game creator Crystal Noda, with both discussing the new project currently in development.
This new project is a UGC (user-generated content) game designed for players to create, publish, and share their own games. Konami’s goal is to enable anyone to experience the joy of creating entertainment,
as it streamlines the creation of new games, making it easier.
Wai Wai World Craft Gameplay Overview
Wai Wai World Craft (tentative title) is a free-to-play game that allows players to create their own games across multiple genres, either from scratch or by customizing existing official games, in a style similar to world editor titles like Mario Maker. Players can select a base area and freely place maps, rules, and characters to design their own unique gameplay experiences.
The game provides several tools to help facilitate creation. "Magic Pod" assists first-time creators by generating a game in approximately three minutes based on a few user inputs. "The World Editor" allows detailed customization of terrain, rules, levels, enemies, and effects, while the "Game Rebuilder" System enables modification and rebuilding of existing games. A variety of materials and assets are included, including characters from past Konami titles.
Completed games can be published and shared with other players. The game supports one to eight players, and crossplay is expected to be available across PC, iOS, and Android devices, allowing users to access games on multiple platforms. Details regarding the publishing process and online features have not yet been confirmed.
For players who want an easier start or are just looking to create a game immediately, they can opt to use the Magic Robot, Pod-kun, for help. Pod-kun then asks them a few questions, and afterwards, you can get a game created in just three minutes. After creating games, players can publish their projects and share them with other creators worldwide.
Featured Konami Characters So Far
This new game maker is based on Konami Wai Wai World, a 1988 2D platformer that was initially released for the Famicom game system. It was notably a crossover game that featured characters, enemies, and stages from popular Konami franchises, including Castlevania.
It also featured Konami Man and Konami Lady as the main protagonists, with other playable characters including Simon Belmont III from Castlevania, Moai Alexandria from Gradius, and TwinBee from the TwinBee series.
So far, Wai Wai World Craft includes characters such as Bill Rizer and Lance Bean from Contra, Simon Belmont from Castlevania, and many more.

Wai Wai World Craft is currently in development, with no confirmed release date. The game is planned for release on PC, iOS, and Android devices.
