Kingmakers Delayed Indefinitely
More Time to Polish
Kingmakers, the Medieval third-person shooter, is delayed indefinitely as the developers will need "a bit more time on content polish." In a Twitter (X) post on October 4, developer Redemption Road Games announced that the game will not release on its expected launch date of October 8.
The game was first revealed by publisher tinyBuild in February 2024 through a trailer, which piqued the interest of many with its unique concept of bringing modern weapons to a medieval setting. Since then, Kingmakers has been one of the top-wishlisted games on Steam, ranking 6th as of the time of writing.

The main reason for the project’s delay is that Redemption Road needed more time to polish this "incredibly ambitious, compromising game," without cutting any planned features for the sake of releasing. They stated, "Our goal, from the start, has been to create something that’s nothing like anything else on the market, in terms of gameplay size, scale, scope, and interactivity."
Kingmakers is being developed using Unreal Engine 4, pushing the engine’s limits while still keeping 60fps on mid-range hardware. Redemption Road mentioned some of the features the game will have, which include tens of thousands of soldiers with AI pathfinding, giant 6-storey castles where every room can be entered and destroyed, massive explorable maps, and so much more.

On top of this, Kingmakers will have full drop-in/drop-out 4-player multiplayer support. The developers stated, "We just need a bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it."
Moreover, the developers are focusing on making the game optimized across different levels of hardware, whether players have a "top-of-the-line rig or a PC that’s seen better days."
Upcoming Updates

Although Redemption Road has yet to announce the game’s official release date, they will continue to update players on the game’s development. According to them, they will present a 30-minute deep dive on Kingmakers’ gameplay soon.
Fans in the tweet’s comment section expressed their frustration with the delay, but understood that the game needed more time to reach the community’s expectations. Many praised the studio’s transparency and wished that more developers would do this rather than releasing a game for the sake of launching it.

Regardless, the game remains one of the most highly anticipated on Steam. The community is still in full support of its development and wants the developers to "keep cooking."
