Bethesda has confirmed that the upcoming Indiana Jones title will not come bundled with Denuvo amid allegations. Read on to find out more about these rumors and what this means for the game.
Indiana Jones Newest Entry Will Have No Denuvo
Confirmed by Publisher Bethesda
Indy fans, rejoice! Publisher Bethesda has quelled the rumours of Denuvo being present in the game with one simple X (Twitter) post—No, there is no Denuvo in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
The allegations first began when it was reported that developer MachineGames added the controversial Denuvo DRM anti-cheat into the game through a back-end update, as shown on SteamDB. This occurs just a few days before its official public launch set for December 8th, and prior to its addition, there was never any indication that the game would come with Denuvo. Thus, this secret maneuvering behind the scenes has upset a lot of potential players and fans who believe that this will ruin the performance of the already resource-heavy title.
Denuvo has been hugely unpopular with gamers due to several reports of its technology negatively affecting games it comes with, slowing down performance, as well as constantly needing to be connected online for its mechanisms to work thus locking players out on playing any Denuvo-bundled game (yes, even single player games) if they’re not connected to the Internet. In relation to the latter part, there was even a certain event back in May 2024 when Denuvo was supposedly the cause of making the PC port of Persona 5 Royal unplayable for hours when being connected online.
With the player community having mixed feelings about Denuvo in general, it’s no surprise that many players were concerned about the upcoming Indiana Jones entry. However, Bethesda quickly responded to these claims by posting on their X (Twitter) account, saying that “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle does not include Denuvo.” They also clarified that the addition of Denuvo through the Steam back-end was only for review builds for leak precautions, which may be what was shown in the logs.
Beefy PC Required To Play
However, Indiana Jones has also made headlines for other news—their rather eye-watering system requirements that will surely make you shed a tear if you don’t own at least the minimum specs. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle requires a rather beefy PC rig in today’s standards, needing at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 Super, AMD Radeon RX 6600, or Intel Arc A580 or anything equivalent to even run the game on the lowest preset with 1080p. For Full Ray Tracing, the game lists the current top tier NVIDIA graphic chips from RTX 4070 (minimum) to the RTX 4090 (ultra performance).
This easily locks out players with older generation graphics cards from playing the game unless they shell out extra cash for an upgrade. Alternatively, the game is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which will surely be able to run the game smoothly and without problems.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set to be released on December 8th, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X|S.
