Hogwarts Legacy Officially Announced PC Mod Support
Hogwarts Legacy’s community manager, Chandler Wood, announces the game’s official PC modding support on January 27, 2025. This allows players to play and even create their mods via the Creator Kit and in-game Mod Manager, which will be released as a free update on January 30, 2025.
In a YouTube video, Wood provides more details about the game’s upcoming support. For those worried about the complexity of making mods, Wood assures fans that "It’s all simplified with official tools provided by us." The Creator Tool Kit, which allows players to mod the game, will be available in the Epic Games store, but it is only in English for now.
If you are already thinking about creating your own mod, you must connect your CurseForge account to the WB Games account to share it with the community. CurseForge is an online tool where players can upload, download, and install various mods into games like Minecraft, Palworld, Darkest Dungeon, and more. Once uploaded, players can seamlessly look for available mods through the game’s Mod Manager.
In this free update, players have the freedom to change the cosmetics of their characters or other in-game assets and add quests or new storylines to enjoy. In the video, Wood showcased a dragon instead of a broomstick, which wizards use for transportation and exploration. He also teased some new cosmetic and clothing options for players.
Though modding takes time, Wood shared, "We’ve been working with some incredible mod creators ahead of launch to make sure you’ll have some really cool things ready to play with right from day one."
Hogwarts Legacy 2 in the Works
Having official mod support increases players’ time with Hogwarts Legacy while waiting for its sequel. On September 4, 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Chief Financial Officer, Gunnar Wiedenfels, confirmed during an interview at Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference that a sequel to the game is in development.
"Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," Wiedenfels shared. "So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that business in our strategic outlook here."
However, the sequel’s development still has a long way to go. Warner Bros. Discovery’s game division is still recovering from the poorly received Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, released in 2024. While the sequel will not be released anytime soon, the official mod support will serve as a timesink for fans, allowing them to try out new quests, explore magical dungeons, and expand the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy through community-driven mods.
