GTA6 Delayed Again to Nov 19, 2026

GTA 6 Balcony Overlooking

Grand Theft Auto VI is delayed once more and is now set to launch in late 2026. Read on to learn more about Rockstar Games’ latest announcement and the effects of the delay in various parts of the industry.

Grand Theft Auto VI Delayed Once Again

Now Releasing on November 19, 2026

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA 6) is delayed once more and is now set to release on November 19, 2026. In an article by Rockstar Games’s official website and Twitter (X) post on November 6, the studio stated that they require additional time to "finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve."

This is now the second time the game has been delayed, as GTA 6 was initially slated to launch in Fall 2025. It was then, in May 2025, that Rockstar Games moved its release to May 26, 2026, as they wanted "to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve."

The delay arrived suddenly, surprising fans who had grown confident in the May 2026 release date, especially after reports of Rockstar Games hiring for localization positions—a sign that a game is typically nearing launch. Unfortunately, the excitement is thwarted with this latest update, and some are even skeptical about the November 2026 launch.

Take-Two Interactive’s Stocks Go Down

Take-Two Interactive NASDAQ Report

GTA 6’s setback sent shockwaves through the industry, most notably sending Take-Two Interactive’s (TTWO) stock down. According to NASDAQ reports on Google Finance, the immediate market backlash to the confirmation of the GTA 6 delay saw TTWO shares lose approximately 10% in after-hours trading. The stock dropped from $252.50 to $219.87 per share, starting at 4:06 PM Eastern.

Following the initial plunge, TTWO stock has stabilized slightly to $236.70, but remains around 6% below its previous close. This volatility is highlighted by the $42.42 spread between its recent high of $262.29 on October 20 and the post-GTA 6 delay low, underscoring the market's reaction to the game's shift to late 2026.

For the wider industry, the shift of GTA 6 to November 2026 creates uncertainty, as competing studios may now be forced to move their launch dates to avoid a direct conflict with the massive release.

Fans Keep Holding On

The immediate backlash to the announcement flooded Rockstar Games’ Twitter (X) post, coming from fans, studios, companies, and internet personalities alike. Cyberpunk 2077, which was also delayed multiple times, jokingly retweeted its 2020 post that originally stated, "No more delays are happening."

Meanwhile, a user shared a clip of streamer IShowSpeed when they found out about the delay, which saw him visibly "crashing out." Domino's Pizza UK, which is notoriously known for posting memes, offered to help Rockstar Games with delivering.

KFC, on the other hand, shared an image of the popular "Ah sh*t, here we go again" meme, befittingly from GTA San Andreas.

Aside from these companies and personalities, the game industry also chimed in with GTA 6’s delay. Devolver Digital, which previously stated that it would release a game alongside GTA 6’s launch, asked whether the developers needed a publisher to "GET THIS THING BACK ON TRACK," and that their DMs are open.

As expected, posts about "waiting for so long" or "we’re gonna get [something] before GTA 6" bombarded the delay announcement. While the community is disappointed, the whole ordeal isn’t really something new due to the nature of most large-scale AAA games in this era getting delayed, which includes Cyberpunk 2077 and Rockstar Games’ very own, Red Dead Redemption 2.

Regardless, GTA 6 remains one of the most anticipated games of this generation despite multiple delays, but fans are hoping to get their hands on it sooner rather than later.

GTA 6 is now set to be released on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
