Releasing 2026

Forza Horizon 6 takes the series to the land of the rising sun in Japan. According to Xbox Games Studio Head Matt Booty, Japan has been the most requested setting for the Forza Horizon franchise since its first title.

Together with developers from Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios, Forza Horizon 6 will bring players to the breathaking landscapes of Japan. The teaser video takes players back to previous games by showing mementos and items as callbacks, before panning to the towering presence of Mount Fuji.

Authentic Real-Life Japan

In an interview with Xbox Wire on September 25, Art Director Don Arceta and Cultural Consultant Kyoko Yamashita shared their thoughts on bringing the racing series to Japan. According to Arceta, the timing is right in taking Forza Horizon to Japan as the technical aspects can fully bring justice to the beauty and essence of the country.

He stated, "The timing is right, in part, due to practicalities – it now feels as though the technical side can keep up with representing Japan correctly, and Playground’s developers also come armed with a huge amount of experience from previous games."

Meanwhile, Yamashita noted that the game will delve deeper on what it really means to live and breath in Japan. "The team wanted to present more than a postcard or a backdrop; they wanted a lived-in world. Having a cultural consultant early helps you make a thousand small, respectful decisions: how neighborhoods sound, even what a sign color communicates about a shop. Those small choices add up to credibility and help avoid stereotypes, while also making it a truly immersive experience for players," he said.

Forza Horizon 6 is set to be released sometime in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The game will be available day one with Xbox Game Pass, and can now be wishlisted on the Xbox Games Store.
