The FANTASIAN Talk Show panel that was held in during TGS 2024 as under SQUARE ENIX was filled with veteran legends of the Japanese gaming industry, where the father of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi and the legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu alongside him took to the stage to present the game. Hosting the show was current Final Fantasy 14 director and Final Fantasy 16 producer, Naoki Yoshida, or otherwise known as Yoshi-P.

Together, they held deeply insightful and lighthearted talks filled with jokes and banter amongst themselves as well as the former duo’s current title that’s soon to be released for wider audiences, FANTASIAN Neo Dimension. FANTASIAN was previously released years ago but only for a limited audience on certain mobile iOS devices. Now, Neo Dimension is the port plus remaster of the game for modern consoles. They reiterate that the game will be out on December 5, 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, PalyStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, which will cost 6500 Yen, or around 45~ USD as of writing.

The Music of FANTASIAN, One of Uematsu’s Last Works as a Full-Time Composer

The legendary composer of the One-Winged Angel Uematsu showed brief snippets of his creative process for FANTASIAN’s soundtrack, where he was heavily involved in the entire process of penning the sheet music and the recording proper. His work for FANTASIAN is undoubtedly one of his last works as a full-time composer for an entire game, from his recent comments of retiring soon due to his old age and degree of effort that takes years of work.

The Intricate and Meticulous Designing Process of the Environments

Sakaguchi took the time to show off the game’s gorgeous and detailed hand-made environments that were first constructed by hand before being scanned for the game. It wasn’t a secret before that FANTASIAN had used physical, hand-crafted dioramas for its environments, as it was heavily marketed before during the game’s initial release.

where the development team took it upon themselves to build the various scenes and locales, paint and model them by hand one-by-one, and place them neatly in place for it all to be 3D-scanned and made usable for game assets.

Now, with a wider audience, Sakaguchi revealed more behind the scenes of the process, showing how objects started from concept art, to physically building, coloring, and assembling them in real life, scanning them, and ending up within the final product of the game!
