In celebration of Fallout Day 2024, Bethesda shares exciting updates on what players can expect in Fallout 76 in the coming months ahead.
Fallout 76 Gears Up For Big Changes in Upcoming Updates
Additions Expected Around Dec 2024
Yesterday, Fallout developer Bethesda Game Studios uploaded a broadcast in celebration of Fallout Day 2024, sharing updates on what Fallout 76 has in store. Over the months ahead, players can expect updates to Fallout 76 such as the addition of the previously promised pets mechanic, with Bethesda teasing that more pets, apart from cats and dogs, will come in the future. "Camp Pets" is due to be added sometime around December.
Along with Camp Pets, a new Fallout 76 raid is also slated at the end of the year, promising to transform the endgame portion of the survival shooter. According to Bethesda, the new raid is an MMO-style dungeon that takes place in a new region called the Gleaming Depths which will take you to an abandoned Enclave research lab that was used to study the phenomenon of Ultragenesis and the Ultracite it spreads.
Gleaming Depths will challenge endgame-level players through multiple boss fights that require effective teamwork. The raid puts you in this series of hostile encounters in the Appalachian wastelands to ultimately face off against the game's "biggest boss yet," a giant snake called the Ultracite Terror.
Overcoming the challenges in the Gleaming Depths raid unlocks a host of new legendary weapons that Bethesda has described to be as transformative as the endgame-changing update. "Your team will have to fight through several incredibly demanding encounters, and once you start, there's no turning back," creative director Jon Rush said. "You win, or you die." Moreover, Bethesda has given another glimpse at playable Ghouls, an upcoming mechanic that the devs hope to release in early 2025.
Towards the end of the Fallout Day 2024 broadcast, Rush teased the addition of Fallout 76's upcoming fishing mechanic. With a fishing pole in hand, Rush said that they have "research to do" about this mechanic coming to the game. Meanwhile, senior community director Jess Finster extended their gratitude to players for reaching the game's 20 million player milestone, saying "We've seen your feedback, and we feel your support, so as both developers and fans, we thank you."
