Cyberpunk: 2077 will be getting a major update in the coming month, as announced by the game's official Twitter (X) page. Read on to learn more about the announcement, where you can watch it, and what we think the updates could be.
Cyberpunk 2077's Upcoming December Update
Cyberpunk 2077 has been circling the internet lately because of its recent expansion, Phantom Liberty. Substantial as the expansion is, there seems to be more in store for Cyberpunk fans in the coming month.
As was announced by the game's official Twitter (X) page, Cyberpunk 2077 will be receiving a free major update - simply referred to in the announcement as "Update 2.1" - this December 5, 2023. The update will be released concurrently with the game's Ultimate Edition and promises "new and hotly-anticipated gameplay elements".
Fans took to the announcement's comments to pry for additional information, but the Cyberpunk Team remained tight-lipped about the update's details and urged the commenters to watch the stream instead.

Announcement Sparks Speculation Among Fans
Pleas for more details aren't the only things populating the announcement's comments section, as plenty of fans used the interim between the announcement and the stream to come up with theories on what these new gameplay elements could be.
Many ideas were thrown around, but the most common one was the prospect of a New Game+ mode for the base game. Cyberpunk 2077's difficulty - or rather lack thereof - has been a major criticism against the game since its 2020 release. This problem's been somewhat fixed by its recent Phantom Liberty expansion, but players are adamant that this game needs an NG+.
Other ideas included more cosmetic cybernetics, an additional romanceable companion (fans want Songbird from Phantom Liberty in particular), and a third-person mode. These are all theories, but considering Phantom Liberty's enemy AI and difficulty tweaks, it's unlikely that we'll be getting an NG+ mode for the next update. Nothing's certain until the update is revealed, so until then, fans will be cooking up more and more theories as the hours tick by.
