Cities: Skylines 2 has just released its first post-launch DLC Beach Properties, being significantly priced while adding in insignificant content. It doesn’t even have any beaches. Read on to learn more about the DLC and community reaction.

Cities: Skylines 2 Launches "Beach Properties" Asset Pack DLC

The Community is NOT Happy

A couple days ago, Cities: Skylines 2 released its first post-launch content DLC a few months after its successful but rocky launch back in October 2023. However, fans of the city builder have been heavily criticizing the new asset pack, pointing out how, at a hefty price of $9.99, it barely contains anything of value. As an asset pack, it contains dozens of different buildings meant to be fit for a beach setting, as well as a grand total of 4 new trees! But…the base game, nor the DLC doesn’t really have any beaches in the first place, so players were quick to point out how useless and unnecessary the asset pack is.

Needless to say, the Cities: Skylines 2 community is very unhappy with the situation of the game. The launch trailer embedded has its like and dislike ratio very unflattering, and its Steam reviews of the DLC sitting at ‘Overwhelmingly Negative.’

Comments on YouTube point out how lacking the DLC is, with one commenter saying, "Bro forgot the C in DLC 💀." One other commenter enumerated what the DLC should have contained, saying "This should have been 5x bigger for $10, and have medium density, hotels, beaches, resorts, new ‘waterfront’ policies, and the trees should have been in the base game."

Things are the same over at the Steam reviews, where fans express their displeasure over the situation. "Releasing a beach properties DLC without beaches, promenades, and quays is a choice. Not even any commercial buildings. But hey, you get 4 palm trees…" one reviewer exasperatedly states.

"I paid 90 euros on steam pre-order for the ultimate version to get 4 palm trees and a few houses. This is spitting in the faces of players and fans. I’m excited about the next DLC, maybe we’ll get a few more houses, I can’t wait," sarcastically says another Steam reviewer.
