Five More Leads Seemingly Exit PlatinumGames

Hideki Kamiya Showed "Former Directors Drinking Party" In A Video

PlatinumGames seemingly lost five more leads based on a video by former PlatinumGames Vice President Hideki Kamiya. On his YouTube channel, Kamiya shared a bonus part in the video which he described as "Former PlatinumGames’ Director's drinking party."

The video featured Kamiya having a small get-together alongside Bayonetta Origins Director Abebe Tinari, Bayonetta 3 Director Yusuke Miyata, Astral Chain Director Takahisa Taura, Metal Gear Rising Director Kenji Saito, and Anarchy Reigns and Resident Evil Character Designer Masaki Yamanaka.

Kamiya added in the video "Games are made by people. Wherever they go from here, they’ll create things that only they can." He also encourages fans to look forward to their work.

The Future of Former PlatinumGames Directors

Although the video did not mention any specifics regarding their departure from PlatinumGames, the former directors look to have some plans after leaving the company. It was reported earlier that Tinari joined PlayStation’s Housemarque as their Lead Game Designer. In a post he made on Blue Sky, he shared himself updating his social media profile as a game director/designer based in Helsinki, where Housmarque is located.

Meanwhile, Astral Chain Director and Nier Automata Game Designer Takahisa Taura seems to have also exited PlatinumGames. Fans have speculated him parting ways with PlatinumGames as they have noticed the removal of PlatinumGames from his Twitter (X) account, similar to Saito and Yamanaka last month. Taura also changed his workplace on his Facebook account to Eel Game Studio, a newly formed game studio located in Hiroo, Shibuya in Tokyo, Japan.

Kamiya first led the exits after a shocking announcement in September 2023 since he was a founding member of PlatinumGames. In 2024, Capcom announced its partnership with Kamiya’s newly founded studio Clovers Inc. to develop a sequel to his beloved 2006 game Okami](https://game8.co/articles/latest/okami-2-fulfills-director-hideki-kamiyas-18-year-dream-for-a-sequel).

PlatinumGames Moving Forward

Since Kamiya’s departure in 2023, PlatinumGames has remained silent regarding the announcement. The company celebrates Bayonetta’s 15th Anniversary this year and looks to have something big for the fans despite key people involved with the franchise leaving.

PlatinumGames reassured their fans "Moving forward, we will continue to take on new challenges to create games that surprise and delight our fans. We look forward to your continued support of Bayonetta and PlatinumGames!"

They have also collaborated with Koei Tecmo and Microsoft with the release of NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black in January 2025 and NINJA GAIDEN 4 slated for Fall 2025.
