Battlefield 6 was featured at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where the developers shared more information about the game's single-player campaign. Read on to learn more about the event, when it starts, and what was announced.
Battlefield 6: Single-Player Live Showcase

The single-player campaign for Electronic Arts’ highly anticipated shooter, Battlefield 6, took center stage at their live showcase during the Tokyo Game Show 2025. The said showcase was led by key members of the development team: Executive Senior Producer Philippe Ducharme, Senior Creative Director Roman Campos-Oriola, and Senior Director of Integrated Communications Andy McNamara. They were also joined by Jay Walker, the actor who provides the voice and motion capture for Dylan Murphy, one of the main characters in the campaign's elite squad, Dagger 13.
After introductions, the developers introduced the various characters that make up the US Marine Raider unit known as Dagger 13. Players will rotate between controlling different members of this elite four-person squad throughout the campaign, each of whom fulfills a combat role. This elite team fights a war in the year 2027. World order has fractured as the NATO alliance struggles to maintain peace. Into this vacuum steps the private military corporation known as Pax Armata, a private military company (PMC) who is supported by a coalition of former NATO nations.
The game’s campaign appears to revolve around the squad’s "cinematic" missions to counter the said PMC’s aggressive maneuvers, which threaten to plunge the world into a full-scale global war.
Battlefield 6 Single-Player Campaign Sneak Peek

During the presentation, the development team confirmed that attendees at Tokyo Game Show 2025 would be able to go hands-on with a campaign mission called "Operation Gladius." For the wider audience, they debuted a 15-minute gameplay sequence from the very same mission that demonstrated the game’s "cinematic" moments.
The said mission puts players in the boots of Dylan Murphy, the squad’s Engineer. The mission is set on the shores of Gibraltar, a location seized by Pax Armata forces. The developers explained that his beach assault mission immediately follows "Mission 2," in which another Dagger 13 member, Simone "Gecko" Espina, sabotages anti-aircraft defenses to pave the way for Murphy’s team.
The large-scale beach landing immediately drew comparisons to historical moments like the D-Day invasion of World War II, a parallel the developers embraced, noting that they worked with military consultants to achieve a certain level of authenticity. The footage was, as per the developers, "cinematic," with gunfire, explosions, and particle effects showing a degree of environmental destruction as large structures crumble under fire.

One of the things spotted by the panel was the inclusion of Squad Orders in a single-player campaign, a feature familiar to veteran players to the franchise’s multiplayer mode. It allows players to open a command wheel and direct the rest of Dagger 13 to perform specific actions. The showcase displayed commands such as ordering a squadmate to throw a grenade, scout an area ahead, or use smoke to provide cover. Curiously, the developers note that these commands change depending on which members of Dagger 13 are currently with the player.
This system plays directly into how players can approach objectives. The campaign, as described, is designed to offer more flexibility. The development team stressed that players can tackle objectives in a number of ways. As one developer noted, "you can choose a number of different ways to approach this particular encounter." They demonstrated this non-linearity with an example of an enemy tank charging down a war-torn street. One shown method involved climbing a nearby building, eliminating enemies there, securing a launcher, and destroying the tank from above.
Battlefield 6 Live Showcase Q&A

The showcase concluded with a brief Q&A session. When asked about their overall goal for the single-player experience, Philippe Ducharme and Roman Campos-Oriola stated the team’s ambition was to create both a "cinematic experience" and "the biggest Battlefield experience ever." Andy McNamara added to this sentiment by emphasizing the importance of the story: "it was really important that we build a Battlefield universe that felt real to the player; that there are real stakes at play."
