Battlefield 6 Server Browser Details and Fan Reactions
Server Browser Solution Caters to the Majority
Battlefield 6 continues to roll out more information as the game inches closer to its launch, and more information about its server browser comes to light. In a Twitter (X) post on August 3, DICE Producer Alexia Christofi shared how the solution for the game’s server browser woes caters to most of the community’s issues.
For context, a server browser is a feature that is in most multiplayer games. In previous Battlefield titles, players could manually view and select from a list of all active game servers based on various criteria, including game mode, map, ping, player count, and custom rules.
This was changed in Battlefield 2042, where the developers implemented a matchmaking system that placed players in matches based on several factors, including their skill level. In the upcoming Battlefield 6, however, the server browser will be tweaked and featured prominently in the Portal Mode.

Christofi stated that after gathering the community’s thoughts on the importance of their server browser, she confirmed that they have solved most of their concerns. She said, "I think our [server] browser solution answers all these wants. Yes, it's via portal and shows community experiences, but these can award full XP, will be front and center in our main menu, not hidden - and will allow you to filter and search for specific things you want."
As explained by Christofi, Battlefield 6’s server browser expands upon Battlefield 2042’s custom games platform. The Portal mode will give players the option to browse community-created servers, filter and search specific maps or modes, earn full XP, and find persistent servers.
Fans Still Want the Classic Server Browser

Despite the solution offered by DICE, some fans were unsatisfied and prefer the developers to bring back the classic server browser that was present in previous Battlefield titles. Most players wish that official DICE servers would return, offering classic and standardized modes Battlefield has, which provide the most optimal and consistent experience for all.
Comments under Christofi’s post echo the same sentiments, with most referring to Battlefield 4’s server browser that kept the community engaged. Beyond wanting the return of official servers, a lot of fans just wish for the new server browser to let them keep their squads intact between matches, since previous versions of the feature forced them to jump to other servers and link up again after a game.
Even though there are still some features fans want to be included in the game, the community is happy that the developers are taking the time to communicate with everyone to make the game better. Christofi noted that more information about server browsers will be shared at a later date.
Open Beta Hits Almost 10,000 Players Before Launch

While the community still has some improvements that they want to see on the popular first-person shooter, many are eagerly awaiting the game’s open beta this August. So much so that even though the open beta will begin on August 7 via Early Access and August 9 for everyone, players are accessing the PC client continuously.
According to SteamDB, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta has reached over 9,400 players, with around 3-4k active users as of writing. The PC client does not offer much at the moment, aside from giving players the chance to tweak some in-game settings, which begs the question of why many players are using it right now.

This indicates that a lot are looking forward to testing the game out and want to immediately jump into the battlefield as the open beta goes live. The Battlefield 6 Open Beta begins on August 7 for those with Early Access. Meanwhile, it will officially launch on August 9-10 for its first weekend, then August 14-17 for its second weekend.
Fans can earn exclusive rewards on the open beta that can be redeemed on the game’s full release. Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games, and EA App. To stay up to date with the latest information about the game, check out our article below!
