Michael Douse, Larian Studios’ Director of Publishing, explained how the Baldur's Gate 3 cross-save feature works between PS5 and PC. Since BG3 is now available on PS5 for those who purchased the Digital Deluxe Edition, he tried to clarify some misconceptions about the said feature.

The publisher later shared this tweet with instructions on how to activate this feature. According to him, players would need to login to their Larian account and then turn on the cross-save setting on both their PS5 and PC. If players do not see this setting, it is because they don’t have a Larian account or they haven’t logged into it. Additionally, users on Playstation do not need a Playstation Plus subscription to play the game as everything will be stored in the Larian Studios servers.

If you are on Xbox, worry not as the studio has confirmed before that the cross-save feature will work for all platforms. BG3 will release on Xbox sometime between September and November.

How does this affect Baldur’s Gate 3 players?

With that announcement, it seems that the game’s cross-save feature will work seamlessly for players looking to play BG3 on other platforms. This is great news for fans of the franchise as cross-platform progression is something that a lot of developers struggle to incorporate into their games. However, this should not be confused with crossplay, the feature wherein players from one platform can play with people playing on a different platform. Crossplay is currently not a feature available in BG3 but will be in the future. It is unclear when this feature will be integrated into the game.
