Konami Confirms Absence of Key Figures In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Core Staff Gone At Momentous Moment
When the Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake was announced during the recent PlayStation Showcase, the franchise's fans expressed their wholehearted, unadulterated glee, often by making a scream so primal and loud that their microphones peaked and cut them off. Their joy was expected, as Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is one of the most beloved entries to the legendary game franchise, and fans prayed long and hard that the remake rumors were true. And upon the reveal of Snake's shadowed but extremely familiar countenance, their prayers were finally granted.
However, many fans wondered, after the afterglow of their celebrations, would the series creator Hideo Kojima be involved with the game?
In a recent interview with IGN Japan, Konami confirmed that Hideo Kojima, and other key figures, will not be involved in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Instead, it will be led by Konami developers who have been involved in developing past games.
Additionally, this might not be the only remake Konami plans for the series, stating that depending on the feedback, they might also work on other titles. Though they have not mentioned any particular ones, the other original games might also prove to be interesting choices.
The fact that Hideo Kojima, a person almost as popular, if not more, than the games he's created, isn't involved in the remake might also be connected to the remake's title using the Greek letter delta (Δ) instead of outright titling it "Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake." According to a Konami spokesperson, "Delta is a character from the Greek alphabet that means ‘change’ or ‘difference’ in mathematics and variables, and also has the meaning of changing an amount without changing the structure." This might indicate a change in how the game will be handled without its enigmatic creator.
