Playstation State of Play 2023 reveals new gameplay footage for the upcoming survival game, Resident Evil 4 Remake. The 2-minute gameplay trailer showcased our beloved protagonist, Leon in different situations varying from shooting enemies like Plagas to riding a mine cart with Luis in a cave. It also gave us a glimpse of the characters Major Jack Krauser and Ada Wong.

Improved Enemies
Players will encounter different variants of the Las Plagas parasites throughout the game. Unlike the original, they will have an erratic and improved movement speed. Players must take advantage of the Quick Time Events to defend themselves and defeat these horrifying creatures.
New Parry Mechanic
According to an interview with the Resident Evil 4 Remake directors Yasuhiro Ampo and Kazunori Kadoi, the Remake will have a new parry mechanic that players can use in combat. We can see the parry mechanic being used by Leon in the gameplay trailer when he was attacked with an axe by an enemy.
Fighting against Jack Krauser demonstrated a quite extensive and challenging sequence of QTEs in the original, but since we will be using the game’s new parry mechanic, we might see a different and engaging boss fight in the Remake. We predict that the parry system will replace the majority of the game's QTEs in the Remake.
Demo & The Mercenaries Mode
The fan favorite minigame, mercenaries will also be available in Resident Evil 4 Remake. Kill as many enemies as possible within the given time limit to raise your score in the minigame. The Mercenaries mode will be available as free post-launch DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake. They also confirmed that a special demo for Resident Evil 4 would be coming soon, and that there would be a Mercenaries mode, a beloved feature of the original game that unlocked after beating the main campaign.
