Rhythm-Based Gameplay
The three different types of stages in-game require the players to push buttons in a timely manner to match the different colored circles called Triggers that appear onscreen. Each Trigger requires different buttons to press or move. Red circles indicate the Touch Trigger that can be done with a simple button press, yellow circles with arrows are for Slide Trigger that requires the analog stick to move in the direction of the arrows, while green circles and green lines indicate Hold Trigger where players must hold a button until the duration of the trigger ends. Continuously missing several triggers can result in your parties' HP loss or a Game Over.
Like most games in the Theatrhythm series, the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line will be a rhythm-based game. It will feature 385 playable songs, 104 unlockable characters from the original Final Fantasy through Final Fantasy XV, and three types of stages available in-game.

•Event Music Sequence
Unlockable Characters and Songs
Players can get new characters and songs from the Final Fantasy series by unlocking a Final Fantasy title in the mode Series Quests using a Title Key. Play through a series of songs from that title and eventually, you’ll come across a treasure chest that will grant you a Title Key. You can also get enemy characters by clearing all the stages. It's unclear whether or not more characters will be featured in-game.
Online Multiplayer Co-Op
Theatrhythm Final Bar Line offers Online Multiplayer for up to Eight Players via Multi Battles. However, players must first create their ProfiCard, an online calling card that displays their in-game stats, records, and Gamertag before creating their own room or join another player’s room to compete with them. If you want to play privately with your friends then you can set a password in your room.
