Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has announced his retirement, finishing up a nearly three-decade tenure with the PlayStation business. Ryan's decision to step down has many in the gaming industry thinking about his influential career. He said he did not take this decision lightly, that he loved SIE and their community. Ryan cited the difficulties of balancing his work in the US and his home in the UK as the main reason for his decision.
Jim Ryan began working for Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe (SIEE) in 1994. Since then, he has held various high-level positions within the organization, including President of SIEE, Head of Global Sales and Marketing, and Deputy President of SIE, all of which he held before being named SIE President and CEO.
Hiroki Totoki To Become SIE Interim CEO
Hiroki Totoki, a seasoned executive inside the Sony Group Corporation, will succeed Jim Ryan. Totoki is well-versed in the complexities of Sony Group Corporation's operations, having previously served as its President, COO, and CFO. Hiroki Totoki brings deep knowledge of the PlayStation industry to his new position due to years of close engagement with SIE. He will begin a new chapter as the Chairman of SIE in October 2023 and assume the role of Interim CEO of SIE starting April 1, 2024.
