007 First Light Revealed at PS State of Play June 2025
Releases 2026

007: First Light was officially revealed during the June 2025 PlayStation State of Play, with a release window set for 2026. It is currently being developed by IO Interactive, the acclaimed studio behind the Hitman series and the upcoming adventure shooter Mindseye.
The game will offer a third-person action-adventure experience focused on a standalone reimagining of James Bond’s origin story. Players can expect dynamic missions set across stunning global locations, iconic vehicles, and the freedom to approach objectives with a variety of tactical and interactive gameplay mechanics.
Set to launch on PlayStation 5, 007: First Light will also take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro’s capabilities, featuring enhanced performance through the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.
Focused On The Bond Origin Story
007: First Light will be a "wholly original Bond origin story," placing players in control of a young James Bond as he begins his journey. The game presents a reimagined take on the world’s most famous spy, with a focus on his formative years before he became the suave, seasoned agent known across the globe.
This is Bond like you’ve never seen him before—the youngest version to appear in the franchise. At just 26 years old, Bond is still raw, impulsive, and learning to navigate the grey areas of espionage. He’s not yet the martini-sipping, Aston Martin-driving icon, but a man still figuring out when to fight, when to lie, and when to disappear into the background.
Bond begins as a Royal Navy air crewman. After a daring act of courage, he’s thrust into MI6’s most demanding training program, a process that will shape him into the agent he’s known and feared worldwide. The story, developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, also stands entirely on its own, offering a new lens through which to explore the Bond franchise.

The game is set to be a globe-trotting adventure that spans snow-covered peaks, tropical coastlines, and everything in between. Players will also encounter classic characters like M, Q, and Moneypenny, while also meeting new faces, such as Greenway, Bond’s mentor.
Gameplay promises a rich mix of stealth, intense combat, high-speed driving, and signature spy gadgets—all brought to life by IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier engine.
