Red Dead Redemption is a western open-world action-adventure game initially released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on May 18, 2010. It was subsequently ported to the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on August 17, 2023, and then to Windows on October 29, 2024. The game is slated for another release for Android and iOS, along with enhanced ports for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 2, 2025.
Red Dead Redemption is the successor to 2004’s Red Dead Revolver and the predecessor of 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2, its prequel. The game puts players into the shoes of former outlaw John Marston as he sets out on a mission to hunt down the remnants of his former comrades and save his family.
Red Dead Redemption is set in the Old West, riddled with rugged wastelands, urban settlements, and all sorts of bandits and wildlife. Red Dead Redemption is a blend of third-person action and immersive open-world exploration set in the vast backdrop of the 1911 American frontier and Mexico. Engage in gunfights, horseback riding, bounty hunting, and more as John Marston.
Combat is centered around gunplay and the use of the "Dead Eye" mechanic, which slows down time and lets players shoot multiple enemies with precision.
