Some New and Old Names Make The List
Sensor Tower has just dropped another report detailing the most downloaded mobile games of June 2023. The numbers are pretty wild and staggering, with surprising placements on the leaderboards, such as Tencent's Undawn and Miniclip's Subway Surfers, holding respectable positions on different accolades.
Do note that Sensor Tower's data does not include third-party Android markets, such as from APKPure or QooApp.
3. Ludo King
The mobile game market of India proves its lucrativeness with the third-place game, Ludo King. It is the mobile game form of the popular strategy board game Ludo. India leads the charge, accounting for about an absolutely massive 83% of its total downloads during June 2023. It might be due to the new version that dropped during that month which features the country's monsoon season.
2. Subway Surfers
Subway Surfers takes second place with an almost equally impressive 18.5 million downloads. Again, India is the source of the most considerable portion of the total downloads for the game, contributing 24.2% of its total. The United States follows up next with 7.8% and Vietnam with 7.3%. The reason for its resurgence might be the introduction of a new playable character, Rain, on June 5 and other additions to the game.
1. Garena Free Fire
Garena Free Fire, a third-person shooter battle royale developed by 111dots Studio, is on top of the list. It gained nearly 19 million downloads during June 2023, due to the recent Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse collaboration. Most of its downloads came from India, contributing to about a whopping 27.9% of its total downloads. It's followed by Indonesia with 12.7% of the total and then Vietnam with 8.1%.

Noteworthy Takeaways of June 2023
June's Numbers are Comparable to The Previous Month
While the recorded 4.44 billion downloads for mobile games during June 2023 may seem staggering, it's actually quite similar to May 2023's numbers. India still contributes the most to the numbers for June 2023, with 19.4% (862 million) of global downloads, followed by the United States with 8.4% and Brazil with 8.3%.
Undawn Enjoys High Growth On Release
Undawn, Tencent's new survival RPG title, did quite well despite the relatively stagnant market. It topped Sensor Tower’s global download growth chart for the month, where they measure how well the game performs relative to previous records.
While Sensor Tower did not provide specific numbers, AppMagic has data that shows Undawn has been downloaded over eight million times in the month of June.
Honkai: Star Rail Missing From Chart
A notable omission from the list is HoYoverse's Honkai: Star Rail, the mobile game that broke several records during its launch. This highly-anticipated title had been downloaded over 20 million times within just two days after its launch, immediately topping the iOS charts as the most downloaded game in history. It also earned itself $20 million within a mere five days after it started its service.
One possible reason for the game's absence from the list may be because of its relative lack of new content during that month. However, that does not mean it's slowing down, as June was also the month when it released Silver Wolf, an extremely popular character since the start of the game. When the month closed, her banner earned Honkai: Star Rail a very impressive $54 million.
