Lightyear Frontier does not have a story in the traditional sense. You have to set up a farm, and there’s no convoluted reason for you needing to do so. You’ll be exploring a beautiful alien world, whose story and rich history will unfold as you explore. There will be clues hidden throughout the world’s different biomes, which you must piece together to understand what this world has been through.
Lightyear Frontier Gameplay
Lightyear Frontier takes the open-world survival-crafting formula and removes everything that causes its players to stress out. There’s no combat in this game, nor are there any hunger and thirst meters you have to look out for. As a result, you have an incredibly cozy adventure game with crafting and farming sim elements.
You’ll find yourself in a beautiful and vibrant alien world, where you can choose where you want to settle and build your farm. Plant and harvest alien crops, and gather resources to build and upgrade things to make your farming more efficient. Instead of doing things the old-fashioned way, you’ll have a multi-purpose mech capable of all your farming and resource-gathering needs.
Because there are no combat features or hunger/thirst meters you have to worry about, you have all the time in the world to soak in the alien world’s magnificent views. Explore its diverse biomes complete with abundant forests, windy deserts, and caves alone or with up to 3 other friends. Keep your eyes peeled, as the world has a rich history that you can learn about by spotting clues and piecing together the secrets you uncover. As you explore, you could plant trees, clean up the pollution, and remove invasive weeds to make the planet even more beautiful. You’ll encounter majestic alien creatures along the way, but don’t be scared, they won’t harm you.
Your mech is your best friend in this game. Equip it with tools that you’ll need for whatever task you may have. You may also personalize your mech aesthetically, as well as modify or replace its parts to upgrade and make your farming and exploration easier. Some of the mech tools shown in promotional footage of gameplay include a blade for cutting down trees, a drill for collecting stones and metals, a hose to water your crops, and a vacuum to suck in resources.
Make the space farm of your dreams and expand your buildings as you earn more credits and get rich in resources. What started off as a simple structure with only the essentials can turn into a vast and luxurious property worthy of being featured on MTV Cribs with enough time, effort, and creativity.
