Real-Time Combat
Echoes of Aincrad is an action RPG that uses real-time combat and appears similar in scope to Monster Hunter Wilds. Players will be able to use a variety of weapons, attributes, and special skills to match their playstyles as they grow stronger and take on harder challenges. NPC companions will also ally themselves with the protagonist, each with their own set of unique abilities.
Character Customization and Progression
As a player-driven narrative, the game emphasizes agency through extensive avatar customization, encompassing appearance, gear, stat allocations, and combat mechanics built on various weapons and skills.
Companion System
As Echoes of Aincrad is a single-player game, an AI-controlled NPC will accompany the player-protagonist in their journey across Aincrad's world. The player can also forge synergy with this ally and fine-tune their tactics and gear to create their own team dynamic in every fight.
World Exploration

Protagonist
Players step into the role of a customizable hero or heroine, embarking on quests with their party members to overcome Sword Art Online, the virtual world that became a fight for survival.
Iori
An original character in the game, Iori is one of the NPCs who can accompany the player in Aincrad. She primarily serves as a support using healing circles and a linked ultimate. She’s a solo swordswoman who introduces players to the basics of Sword Art Online during the beta.
Argo
Argo first meets the protagonist in the beta test. She assumes a utility role, scanning the map for threats while doubling as a nimble information broker, her sharp business acumen setting her apart. She has already appeared in previous Sword Art Online media, with her real name being Hosaka Carina Tomo.
Zash
A young warrior wielding a two‑handed sword, Zash bolsters his allies by boosting attack and deploying barriers for defense. He crosses paths with the player's party just as they are searching for additional strength to join their raid.
